Toyota Plans to Pour USD912M into U.S. Hybrid Output Expansion

(MENAFN) Toyota Motor unveiled plans Tuesday to channel $912 million into five American manufacturing facilities, ramping up hybrid vehicle output to satisfy surging domestic demand for the fuel-efficient automobiles.

The capital injection forms part of a broader commitment by the Japanese automaker to deploy up to $10 billion in U.S. operations through 2030, the company disclosed in a statement.

Facilities slated for funding include Toyota's Buffalo plant in West Virginia, Georgetown plant in Kentucky, Blue Springs plant in Mississippi, Jackson plant in Tennessee, and Troy plant in Missouri, according to the announcement.

The largest single allocation—$453 million—will expand four-cylinder hybrid-compatible engine manufacturing at the Buffalo, West Virginia complex.

Additional capital deployments encompass $204.4 million for the Georgetown, Kentucky site to boost four-cylinder hybrid-compatible engine capacity, plus $125 million designated for Corolla production expansion in Blue Springs, Mississippi, including hybrid variants.

Toyota, ranking as America's second-largest new vehicle seller behind General Motors, projects the investments will generate 252 employment opportunities.

Tuesday's funding revelation follows by less than seven days Toyota's confirmation of intentions articulated by President Donald Trump last month to inject up to $10 billion beyond initial projections into American operations across the coming five years.

The company characterized the supplementary investment as aligned with Toyota's "best-company-in-town" philosophy—emphasizing local production, community contribution, and customized product offerings through diversified strategy execution, Toyota stated.
