Russian Envoy Signals Shift Toward Peaceful U.S. Ties
(MENAFN) Russia's ambassador to the United States, Alexander Darchiev, asserted Wednesday that Moscow and Washington are fated to maintain peaceful, non-confrontational coexistence, despite ongoing tensions between the two powers.
Speaking during a diplomatic gathering at the Russian Embassy, Darchiev underscored the necessity for renewed collaboration between the nations.
"Despite the differences between our countries and the toxic legacy of the previous period, which Presidents Putin and Trump agreed to overcome through joint efforts, Russia and the United States are destined as great powers to non-confrontational peaceful coexistence," he stated.
The ambassador pointed to what he described as a fresh "window of opportunity" for reestablishing formal bilateral relations—an opening that could lead to joint efforts in addressing major international challenges and crises.
Darchiev noted a shift in diplomatic dialogue, describing a move away from isolated rhetoric toward more practical, albeit complex, conversations between Washington and Moscow.
In an additional message, Darchiev reaffirmed to U.S. President Donald Trump that Russia remains dedicated to doing all it can to rebuild ties between the two nations.
